Do you have a shabby-looking (though nicely shaped) fiberglass urn? Give it instantly improved curb appeal with a quick coat of matte black spray paint. What was once a very poor imitation of stone becomes an exceedingly better imitation of cast iron which looks dramatic (and more realistic) yet fades into the backdrop of the garden, allowing the container plantings to shine. I already had rosemary and verbena planted at the start of the season, so rather than remove them for this project, I simply covered them with a trash bag. I used a dry brush to dust off the planter, and went to town with the matte black spray paint spraying thin coats in stripes, making sure to cover all the angles. Once dry, I replaced my decorative obelisk and stood back to be instantly gratified by a job well done.
